The new CIPAC MT 46.4 

CIPAC revised the method of accelerated storage (MT46). The reason for the revision was to harmonize the accelerated storage procedures for all formulation types. Thus the  MT 46.4 recently published replaces all previous versions of this method.

Accelerated storage - The new CIPAC MT 46.4

CIPAC revised the method of accelerated storage (MT46). The reason for the revision was to harmonize the accelerated storage procedures for all formulation types. Thus the  MT 46.4 recently published replaces all previous versions of this method.

Field of application

The purpose of this method is to simulate the normal long-term aging of a formulation under conditions accelerated by heating. The new method MT 46.4 is applicable to all other formulation types (liquid, solid, aerosols, nets and formulations for release from a matrix). Thus, there are no longer separate descriptions for DDT and malathion (MT 46.2 AID methods) and storage of solid formulations under pressure (MT 46.3.3) has also been deleted.

Brief description of the method

A sample is transferred to a suitable container, which is then sealed and stored in an oven at a specified temperature for a defined period of time. After removal from storage and reaching ambient conditions, the sample will be analysed.

In addition to the original packaging the packaging material to be used - - was specified for the respective formulation type in the new method. However, the storage period and temperature combinations remain unchanged for MT 46.3.

The method describes the conditions for storage and does not give any results. Tests performed after accelerated storage are not part of this method.
