Approval of Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium extract

About a year ago, the decision was made to include the active ingredient "Pyrethrum" in the list of approved active ingredients.
In this article, we explain to you what special features this entails and what this means for you now.

Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium extract, or better known as "Pyrethrum", is one of the important active ingredients in the field of insect repellent products in Europe.

But there are a few peculiarities that are important for you.

There are two different extracts of this active ingredient, both of which can be used in the future:

-        Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium extract  supercritical carbondioxide

-        Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium extract hydrocarbon solvents

The inclusion of the two different extracts was requested and approved for both PT 19 (repellents) and PT 18 (insecticides).

However, the final listing for the two extracts will occur on different dates.

The inclusion for PT 19 will take place on 01.02.2024. The decision on this was already made in December 2021. This leaves just 11 months to prepare for product approval under the EU Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR).

Up to now no date has been set for the inclusion of the extracts for PT 18, as the decision (Opinion) was published until Nov. 2022.

You do not have any approval yet?

Then you need to do it quickly!

Because the basic principle of the Biocidal Products Regulation is clear. A product must be approved before it can be used in the European Economic Area and Switzerland.

We are at your side as a competent test institute during the product approval process:

-        We prepare the required studies, such as efficacy, analytics, application data, shelf life and safety data.

-        We help with necessary adjustments of formulations and products through e.g. efficacy screenings.

-        We evaluate the risk for humans, animals and the environment

-        We design the compilation of product dossiers

We have an extensive network of partners at our disposal.

We offer a comprehensive service from a single source.

This is an important point, considering how little time is left to provide all necessary data packages for the registration of products containing "pyrethrum".
